The Little Green Hoop and Blessing # 1
I finished my first square, but it is very different from the way I envisioned it looking. It wasn’t very long after starting that the old wooden hoop split into pieces. I guess it was just too old and dry for the stress I was putting on it. We live in an area with nothing but a Walmart which carries no embroidery supplies, so I knew I was up the creek without a paddle if I couldn’t unearth another one somewhere. I looked and looked in the house, in the outbuilding where we store all kinds of things, and even in the barn. The search finally paid off. It was at the bottom of a precious wooden sewing box my daughter gave me for Christmas two years ago right beside the recliner I always sit in to do my handwork. Now I know the hoop is a blessing, just one that is green plastic instead of old wood. I like the way my representation of it turned out with the little needle, but the pink I used to represent fabric is a tad bit rough. After a good bit of pondering, I decided not to rip and redo it because I want the overall piece to be authentic and to show the progress I hopefully make moving through the 100 squares.
